Tips for your stay in Shanghai
  • Take some suggestions about the local food outlets and markets for delicious food at a cheap price. If you are able to reach Osvaldo around 7 am, you can be blessed with the superb DaBing YouTiao breakfast which is both sweet and salty.
  • In most places, you won’t be able to use a credit card and in contrary, many of the metro stations do not entertain cash. For a hassle-free stay, you can open a bank account at ICBC Bank within 15 minutes and get a debit card which can make car and bike shares easy and convenient.
  • Make sure to keep your pockets rid of anything at the subway station’s security checks that triggers the x-ray machine and locked travel bags.
  • Consider staying at the Bund’s the Sofitel as they use water filters - Shanghai’s tap water is not at always safe.
  • Avoid helping a few locals who would ask you to buy tickets for them as they are banned from buying tickets; your card is linked to your passport which might get you in trouble.
