Overview
With its stunning harbour, mountains soaring in the backdrop, and enchanting old town, Hobart reels you in effortlessly. The capital city of Tasmania is loaded with an impressive history, rich cultural energy, and is close to unrivalled wilderness. What more could you ask for?
Hobart is a port city, a harbour town where the world rushes in on the tide and ebbs away again, calling its influences from afar and leaving the locals buzzing with a global zeitgeist. Riding high above the city is Mt Wellington (kunanyi), a craggy basalt beast apparently created for bushwalking and mountain biking. Called as kunanyi by Aboriginal people, this 1271 m high monolith both defines the city below and shelters it.
The new order of service here focuses on top-quality local and seasonal produce, turned by deft chefs into the marvellous restaurant, cafe and pub meals. Hobart's summer festival season is an absolute blast! Coffee culture is also firmly ingrained, with double-shot pick-me-ups available at every turn. For a few weeks before the New Year's Eve, this petite city goes insane with explorers, musicians, foodies, and sailors from the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race turning the town upside down.

Climate
Boasting a maritime climate with four distinct seasons, Hobart is one of the most visited destinations because of its favourable weather conditions. January and February are the driest and warmest months of the year. Peak season in Hobart knocks the doors from December till February, when the fiery orb blazes down. For mild weather and cheaper accommodation rates, try visiting between March and April.
