Cheap Flights to beirut
Overview
Despite its troubled, violent past, the Lebanese capital of Beirut is an eclectic, mesmerizing cultural haven. Book a cheap flight to Beirut, and you’ll be swept away by the interwoven tapestry of Middle Eastern and European culture filled with nightlife, cafés, beaches, and delicious cuisine that earned the city the reputation of “The Paris of the Middle East.”
Because of its French colonial history, many Beirutis (yes, Beirutis), speak French – and a little French can go a long way. A simple ‘Bonjour’ when you enter a café, shop, or taxi can establish a good initial impression with whoever you’re about to do business with. And of course, don’t forget to say ‘Merci’ whenever appropriate.
Climate
With its Mediterranean climate, temperatures in Beirut are best suited for visitors from April to June. Summer gets oppressively humid, and heavy rains fall from December to February.

Beirut Attractions and Activities
1. Stroll along the Corniche
A Beirut cliché, but essential nonetheless, a stroll along the Corniche at sunset affords a glimpse of the city in all its glory. This seaside promenade is the place to get a real glimpse of Beirut life, from fishermen standing solid in the face of lashing waves to crews of jagal (wealthy posers) peacocking in Lamborghini and coffee sellers rapping their cups like castanets.
2. Munch on the Platter of Mezze
When in Beirut, you’ve got to gorge. If you’re lucky enough to know a Lebanese mum, you’ll know that feasting in this country is mandatory. Those sans mère libanaise will be pleased to learn that Beirut is awash with fine restaurants serving cuisines tailor-made to expand the waistband.
3. Walk Through the Past
To soak in the rich history of Beirut, take a casual stroll through its buzzing streets. You can either opt this by taking part in a guided tour or simply by yourself. The Beirut Old City Walk is a convenient way to approach the city to unfold the stories lurking in its walls and down its alleys.
4. Enjoy Partying in Former Detention Centre
In Western cultural consciousness, Beirut used to be the name to evoke either parties or war. ‘Why not do both in one space?’ replies the Beirut city, and here we have it: the legendary club in Karantina named B018 where parties and wars both can be seen. Today, and not without controversy, it is home to this sprawling underground club.
5. Bask in the Glory of the City of the Sun
Awesome, mesmerising, monumental: the Roman temple at Baalbek (which the Greeks called Heliopolis, or ‘City of the Sun’) was one of the most popular sanctuaries of the ancient world.

Transport from Beirut
Don’t try to navigate the crazy traffic in a rental car, instead opt for taxis or ‘service’ taxis, which are shared taxis; they aren’t quite as convenient as getting your own but they’re a bit cheaper. Be aware that Lebanese taxi drivers are notorious for overcharging by two to three times the real value of a ride.
Visa Requirements for Beirut
British citizens are eligible to apply for a free single-entry family visit or tourist visa on arrival. British Protected Persons and British Overseas Citizens will need to get a visa prior to travelling to Lebanon. Keep in mind that the entry requirements are subject to change, so do check with the Lebanese Embassy before you fly. Ensure that your passport is valid for at least 3 months from the date of entry into Lebanon.
Tips for your stay in Beirut
- Take crossings seriously and always be active while walking down the streets as the stop signs and traffic lights cannot be trusted.
- Never freak out at military checkpoints and about armed soldiers who patrol at the streets for safety.
- Your passport shouldn’t have an Israeli stamp as you might be stopped and barred from stepping in the country even if you have a Lebanese visa.
- Beirut’s traffic is unbelievable - if your destination is within half a mile, then walk instead of waiting for the cab to reach there as it can eat up your time.
- Instead of learning street names (confusing and twisty), keep in mind the landmarks.
